Sedation Dentistry: Ease Your Fears with Soothing Sedation

Even our kind demeanors and gentle touch aren’t enough to eliminate the fears some people feel when faced with a dental visit. Even a simple checkup makes dental phobic patients tremble with anxiety. Because good oral health contributes to optimal overall wellbeing, we want our patients to receive the dental treatments they need for strong, beautiful smiles – without anxiety or fear.

Sedation dentistry involves the use of safe medications to alleviate unease and promote relaxation. Dr. Blanchard offers nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation to give patients peace of mind during their dental visits. These sedation methods are safe and used by millions of dentists across the globe to deliver relief from anxiety. Time will fly during your procedures, and you won’t remember treatment details.

Nitrous oxide – Inhaled through a nasal mask, nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, produces feelings of safety and relaxation. The effects diminish rapidly upon removal of the mask to let patients get on with their busy day.

Oral conscious sedation – You’ll take a sedative prior to your appointment, then Dr. Blanchard will administer nitrous oxide to deepen your sedation during your treatments. Patients rest comfortably while Dr. Blanchard reverses dental damage and neglect. You’ll need someone to bring you to our office, then take you home and stay with you until the effects of your sedation wear off – usually during the evening following your appointment. You’ll most likely return to normal activities the day after your treatments.

IV sedation – The deepest form of sedation Dr. Blanchard offers, IV sedation is administered directly into the bloodstream. IV sedation is not the same as general anesthesia. Patients experience deep relaxation but can converse and express their needs. As with oral conscious sedation, the effects of IV sedation diminish gradually. You’ll need someone to stay with you a bit following your appointment. Most patients resume their routines the following day.

Call the dental office of Dr. Blanchard today to schedule your sedation dentistry appointment. Families in Carrollton, Farmer’s Branch, Addison, and surrounding areas appreciate our innovative approach to dental care with a focus on comfort and quality.
