Invisalign®:  A More Comfortable and Discreet Orthodontic Option

Invisalign is changing the way we straighten teeth. Now, there is a comfortable, removable, and virtually invisible alternative to braces. Invisalign consists of a series of aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. Every aligner is custom designed that guide crooked teeth into place. The 3D aligners are made with SmartTrack® material, making them more comfortable and easier to put on and take off. SmartTrack is a patented material that can help patients get the smile they deserve, even faster.

Many patients avoid straightening their teeth because they believe traditional braces are the only option. Dr. Anthony Dillard is a dentist who offers Invisalign in Carrollton, TX. Dr. Dillard can design a customized Invisalign treatment plan to straighten your smile and restore your confidence in your appearance.

How Crooked Teeth Affect Your Health

A misaligned smile can make you feel self-conscious about your appearance. Misaligned teeth, also known as malocclusion can affect more than your smile. If left untreated, crooked teeth will lead to periodontal disease. In turn, gum disease can lead to numerous health problems and increased medical costs.

Gum disease develops because the crowded teeth are harder to brush and floss. Unfortunately, misaligned teeth will get worse over a longer period of time. For that reason, Dr. Dillard treats children as young as four years old who shown signs of pre-orthodontic concerns.

How Invisalign Works

The Invisalign system measures every move of your teeth. First, Dr. Dillard will take 3D digital impressions of your teeth using the iTero® digital scanner. Your custom road map to a beautiful smile begins with your treatment plan. In this phase, you will see a digital rendition of your future smile.

Next, is when you begin transforming your smile. You will visit our Carrollton dentist office for Dr. Dillard to ensure your aligners fit well. He will answer questions, and let you know what to expect.

Why Choose Invisalign

Invisalign offers a range of advantages over traditional orthodontics, such as:

  • Convenience: Since Invisalign is removable, you can care for your teeth easily without having to struggle with brackets or wires.
  • Comfort: The smooth plastic of the aligners fits comfortably over the teeth, allowing you to avoid the irritation of metal braces.
  • Discretion: The plastic is clear, making it virtually invisible and preserving the appearance of your smile while you straighten your teeth.
  • Speed: In many cases, Invisalign is faster than traditional braces.

The Invisalign aligner system also allows you to enjoy all of your favorite foods without restrictions. Simply remove your aligners before you eat or drink.

Instead of metal brackets and wires, Invisalign straightens your smile with a series of clear, removable mouthpieces.

Determining If Invisalign Is Right for You

If you are interested in Invisalign, the first step is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Dillard. He can perform a full evaluation of your teeth and jaw and take digital x-rays. You can ask any questions you have at this time. Dr. Dillard can also discuss your goals and concerns to help choose the right treatment.

In general, Invisalign treats most of the same concerns as braces, including:

  • Gaps
  • Underbites
  • Overbites
  • Crowded teeth
  • Crossbites
  • Open bites

Some orthodontic issues that will require treatment with traditional metal braces. However, for most types of misaligned teeth, Dr. Dillard can tailor an Invisalign plan to suit your unique needs. In some cases, he may recommend an alternative cosmetic dental treatment, such as porcelain veneers.

Life with Invisalign

If you decide to proceed with treatment, Dr. Dillard will take impressions of your smile and send the information to Invisalign. They will craft your customized aligners using advanced SmartTrack® material. When they are ready, you can begin your treatment.

The Invisalign aligner system also allows you to enjoy all of your favorite foods without restrictions. Simply remove your aligners before you eat or drink.

You will need to wear your aligners about 20 to 22 hours each day. We recommend removing them only to eat, drink, brush, or floss. About every two weeks you will trade your current aligners for the next set in the series. You may feel some discomfort for a few days when you switch to a new set.

Every six to eight weeks, we will schedule an appointment to check the progress of your orthodontic treatment. Dr. Dillard can also provide you with additional aligners. It is important to brush and floss your teeth as recommended.
